Why an Undated Planner?
Share
In 2025, when you think about the concept of organizing your life, it can be exhausting to explore the options to make that happen, especially when most of the choices are centered around our ever-expanding digital world. Like me and many others, going back to the basics and choosing analog forms of getting our lives together has been the answer to controlling the overwhelm of the digital space. The time I take in the morning to sip my coffee, review my daily goals/ to-dos and to wind down at night by counting my wins and reflecting on my challenges has become a coveted space. Taking the time to focus on the things that truly matter without banners flashing around the screen or blue light staining my closing eyelids just shy of bedtime. The only thing left to choose once deciding to go analog was this: dated or undated?
For those of you who have been following the Pineapple Planners journey from the beginning. We used to stock dated planners that were designed with the needs of ourselves and our fellow planners in mind. However, over time I have tried and tested the many benefits of the undated planner system and chose to change to an undated system during the conceptualization stage of this relaunch. Let's go on and explore some of the benefits I found most helpful to my daily life when deciding to go undated that I know I'm not alone on.
No Pressure of Time
Life gets busy and when kids are sick or you're required to work well into the evening, you can miss days or even weeks of your penciled-in "planning time". The beauty of an undated planner is that instead of skipping over those days you missed and having the ugly stain of blank pages to worry about, you can just turn to the next page and write in the week you're planning on currently. You can simply pick up where you left off, making it a great long-term investment for those with irregular schedules, planning that requires less frequent check-ins, or challenges like ADHD that make keeping a dated planner more difficult and less enjoyable. This becomes one of the most important components when combatting "planner fatigue", or that feeling of wanting to throw your planner in the deepest, darkest drawer when thinking about sticking to such a rigid routine as a dated planner demands.
One Place to Put it All
I am guilty of decluttering the terrifying "notebook drawer" at least a few times a year. You know, that drawer of half-filled (sometimes not even half honestly) notebooks that cover a range of topics. There are the "budget notebooks" from 2024, 2023 and... does that say 2016? How did I miss that? The "self-improvement" notebooks, "yearly goals", "self-care" and others. The unique benefit of Pineapple Planners is that we've combined the undated system with the inclusion of some of these topics so that you can track your progress with your budget, goals, and self-care in one book on your schedule. It's all in one place and open to your design, whether that be add-ons like stickers or washi tapes, with even a little room to doodle in the margins.
Do any of these things sound like notebook categories in your desk drawer? If they do then this is the planner for you:
- Core Priorities
- Debt and Savings
- Holidays and Important Dates
- Meal Plan
- Shopping List
- Personal Goals
- Work/Business Goals
- Budget
- Reflections
- Self-Care
- Notes
- Contacts/Address Book
Less Waste
Right now there is a lot of focus being put on the impact that physical products are having on our wallets and the planet. An undated planner addresses both of these issues by being the best economical option that reserves the space for you to live your life with consciousness for the environment and your pocketbook. You can save room in the recycling bin, repurpose your notebook drawer, and keep a little extra cash in your wallet when passing those additional trackers and products at the store.
There are so many intricate and intertwined benefits to an undated planner. Ultimately, the largest benefit is that they provide the freedom to focus on what matters— planning and staying productive— as well as the personalization to do it your way. They're ideal for busy people who want to keep things together among the many complicated categories life can be split into and to do it without the stress of rigid timeframes. I hope that you find the planner as useful as I have when designing it. I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on the relaunch of Pineapple in the comments below!
